Graduate Assistantships Teaching
Assistantships Graduate
Assistantships "President's
Trio" Assistantship Each year the University of South Florida's School
of Music offers numerous assistantship opportunities to graduate students on
a competitive basis. Assistantships at the School of Music are guaranteed for
the entire two-year length of the Masters of Music degree, and they cover the
cost of tuition as well as provide a healthy stipend. Students auditioning
for an MM degree at the USF School of Music who are interested in receiving
an Assistantship must audition by the first audition date (in February), or
have submitted a taped audition (if applicant lives out of the state or out
of the country) by the first audition date. Click here for
more audition requirements. Graduate
Assistantships: Graduate Assistantships (GA) at the School of Music
cover a variety of duties depending on the qualifications of the graduate
student. GA's can involve assisting teachers with undergraduate academic
classes (theory, history, literature, music appreciation), assistant to the
violin or cello studio, and accompanist (for string, brass, woodwind, and
voice studios or choir ensembles). Teaching
Assistantships: Teaching Assistantships are open to graduate students
who already possess nine graduate credits (either from USF or another
institution). Duties under a Teaching Assistantship (TA) can be an instructor
of undergraduate class piano, or an instructor of undergraduate theory
classes. "The President's
Trio Assistantship": This special assistantship is offered to
three graduate students (one violin, one cello, and one piano) who make up
the USF "President's Trio." The members of this trio intensely
study the piano trio repertoire with two members of the Chamber Music Faculty
each semester, and perform a piano trio recital program during both years of
study. They are also called upon to perform at university functions during
the school year. |
