Chamber Music (undergraduate level)
Each semester students are grouped into chamber ensembles that can range from
duos to quintets, involving piano, piano and strings, or strings. Each
ensemble is coached once a week, and each ensemble performs their work at the
end of the semester. Chamber ensembles involving woodwinds are also possible.

Chamber Music (graduate level)
Students are grouped each semester into chamber ensembles ranging from a duo

Analysis of Piano and String Chamber
Music
This semester-long course follows the piano and string chamber music
literature from the Baroque period to the early 20th Century, covering the
evolvement of such genres as the piano trio, the evolution of the string
quartet, the analysis of landmark chamber works, and the history and social,
political, and literary movements surrounding the composition of these works.
Students will present and analyze several works throughout the semester.

Credits: 3 - this course is offered at both the graduate and
undergraduate level.
Pre-requisites: This course is required for all MM Chamber Music
students and open to all MM students. Undergraduate students may take the
course with instructor permission.
